Need an app for your family’s care? Ask us.

If a simple app would make care easier for you or someone you look after, tell us what it should do. If it’s something we can build, we’ll build it for free and share it with everyone who needs the same thing.

Karim reads every request himself. Apps are built for Android, for now.

The kind of thing we mean

Small, focused apps that do one job well. For example:

  • Count and log fallsWhen it happened, where, and what was going on, so you can show the pattern to the care team.
  • Notes for doctor appointmentsQuestions to ask before the visit and what was said during it, in one place.
  • A log of visitsWho came, when, and what was done, for the family members who can’t be there every day.
  • Daily routinesMeals, walks, check-in calls or anything else you want to keep an eye on.

How a request works

  1. Tell us what you need

Describe what the app should do and who would use it. You don’t need to know anything about apps.

  2. Karim reads it and replies

Every request is read by hand. You’ll hear back whether or not we can take it on.

  3. We build it with you

If we can, we may ask a few questions about how it should work, and you may get to try it early.

  4. Everyone can have it

It’s released free on Google Play for anyone with the same need, with nothing that identifies you or your family.

What we can and can’t build

We can build

  • Simple Android apps that record, organize, remind or keep count
  • Apps that keep everything on the phone, with no account
  • Apps for patients, families and the people who care for them

We won’t build

  • Apps that diagnose, give medical advice or calculate medication doses
  • Emergency alerts, or anything someone’s safety would depend on
  • Apps that send personal or health information to a server
  • Anything illegal, or that breaks Google Play’s rules

Ready to tell us about it?

It takes about five minutes. Plain words are perfect, and we’ll ask follow-up questions if we need them.

Please leave out names, medical records and details about anyone’s health. Describe what the app should do instead.

Start a request

The fine print

The terms, in plain words.

  • It’s freeWe don’t charge for apps we build on request.
  • It isn’t guaranteedWe read every request, but we can’t build them all. We take on requests that are legal, safe to build and fit the time we have. We can decline any request, and we can pause or stop work on one at any time. We don’t promise a timeline.
  • Who owns the appApps we build belong to Better Care Project, a trade name of B7 Collective LLC. We release them free, usually as open source, so anyone with the same need can use them. Asking for an app doesn’t give you ownership of it or any exclusive rights.
  • Nothing personal goes inWe remove anything that identifies you or your family before an app is released. Please don’t send medical records or details about anyone’s health. Describing what the app should do is enough.
  • It isn’t medicalOur apps record, organize, remind and keep track. They don’t diagnose, give medical advice or replace your care team, and they aren’t built for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911.
  • Use is at your own riskApps are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Better Care Project and B7 Collective LLC aren’t liable for any loss or harm that comes from using them.
  • Android comes firstApps are released on Google Play. iPhone versions may come later, but we can’t promise them.
